Key Questions
Since C4R has so much information on participants’ health and personal characteristics before the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be able to examine how pre-existing health conditions and other personal characteristics affect the risk of developing severe illness due to COVID-19.
The C4R cohorts are continuing to follow up participants in the coming years, so we also be able to study how infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, affects health in the short- and long-term.
Even for participants who do not become infected with SARS-CoV-2, we know that the COVID-19 pandemic has been linked to many changes in lifestyle and behavior. We aim to investigate how living through the COVID-19 pandemic will impact health and aging, even for people who were never personally infected.
